While strongly condemning the cowardly attack on the CRPF convoy in Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district that killed at least 44 security personnel, the Congress leader had asked whether an entire nation can be blamed for a handful of people.

The cricketer-turned-politician, who was among the invitees for the swearing-in ceremony of Imran Khan as Pakistan prime minister last year posted, “For a handful of people, can you blame the entire nation and can you blame an individual?”

Talking to reporters after the Punjab Assembly was adjourned for the day in solidarity with the CRPF soldiers killed in the terror attack, Sidhu said, “It (the attack) is a cowardly act and I condemn it firmly. Violence is always condemnable and those who did it must be punished.”

Sidhu faced heavy backlash for his comment on social media with many demanding a ban on ‘The Kapil Sharma Show’.

Many people also took to Twitter to demand the removal of Navjot Singh Sidhu from the show as well as from Punjab Cabinet.

Archana Puran Singh who is expected to replace him on the show, according to her, has not been approached yet by anyone as the permanent replacement of Navjot Singh Sidhu.

Talking to news agency ANI, she said she has shot two episodes for Kapil Sharma’s show on February 9 and 13, but was told that those episodes were shot for temporary replacement of Navjot Singh Sidhu as he was busy somewhere else. The episodes are yet to be aired.

A suicide bomber had rammed an SUV carrying 350 kg of explosives into a bus carrying the CRPF troopers in the deadliest attack in decades on security forces in Jammu and Kashmir.

The Pakistan-based Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) had claimed responsibility for the suicide attack.
