Prime Minister-elect Narendra Modi met former President Pranab Mukherjee on Tuesday in New Delhi and sought his blessings after the Bharatiya Janata Party recorded a landslide victory in the recently concluded Lok Sabha elections 2019.
Posting a tweet along with two photographs, Modi called Mukherjee a “statesman”.
“Meeting PranabDa is always an enriching experience. His knowledge and insights are unparalleled. He is a statesman who has made an indelible contribution to our nation. Sought his blessings during our meeting,” he tweeted.

Pranab Mukherjee, the Congress leader who held many posts in the UPA 1 and UPA 2 governments led by Manmohan Singh, served as the President of India from 2012 to 2017.
Narandra Modi, since getting the historic mandate to return to power, has been meeting senior leaders of BJP and other parties. His swearing-in is scheduled on Thursday, May 30.
