Dhananjay Deshmukh, the younger brother of murdered Massajog village Sarpanch Santosh Deshmukh withdrew his recent petition on Tuesday, which he had filed at the Aurangabad bench of the Bombay High Court earlier, even as the Deshmukh family is scheduled to meet Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Tuesday night in Mumbai.
Originally, Deshmukh had filed a petition requesting the court to give a direction to the investigation officers in the Santosh Deshmukh murder case. Yet, sources said that Dhananja has now urged the court to keep the petition filed pending and not to hold any further hearings, saying that the investigation agency should be given more time.

Earlier, Dhananjay Deshmukh, through his lawyer advocate Shomitkumar V Salunke, had filed a petition requesting that the Chief Secretary, Ministry of Home Affairs (state government) and the police chief be directed to take concrete action against all criminal networks in Beed district, their political connections as well as political interference in the district administration, besides reduction of political patronage given to organised crime.

The petition had demanded that the state government must take steps to ensure that there is no political interference or pressure in the investigation into the kidnapping and murder, considering the close relationship between Food and Civil Supplies Minister Dhananjay Munde and Valmik Karad. The petition had also demanded that Munde must be immediately removed as Cabinet Minister until the investigation is completed.
Speaking to media persons in Beed on Tuesday after withdrawing the petition, Dhananjay Deshmukh said that he has withdrawn his petition because he is satisfied with the investigation which is being carried out through the CID and Special Investigation Team (SIT).
