A coach of the Antyodaya Express heading from Mumbai to Gorakhpur derailed in a Western Ghat section in the early hours of Thursday.

The Central Railway officials informed that there are no casualties reported in the incident, however, the rail traffic on the route was disrupted.

The second last coach of the train, on its way to Gorakhpur in Uttar Pradesh, derailed around 3.50 am between Kasara (Thane) and Igatpuri (Nashik), located about 130 km from here, a Central Railway official said.

“All the passengers of coaches halted on the bridge were evacuated through vestibules, which connect the coaches, and shifted to a relief train,” Central Railway’s chief spokesperson Sunil Udasi said.

The Central Railway has set up a helpline number 022-22694040 for the passengers and enquiry.
