Fire inside house: Retired DSP, 5 others of family die of asphyxiation in J&K
Six persons of a family, including two children, died of asphyxiation when a fire erupted in a house in Jammu's Kathua early Wednesday, officials said.
The incident is reported to have occurred as a result of burning of wood inside a closed room for protection from freezing cold.
A woman and her three minor children were found dead on Wednesday in the Banihal area of Jammu. Asphyxia is said to be the cause of their death.
The mother had reportedly burnt some wood inside their room to keep themselves warm as the area is witnessing below freezing temperatures. Unfortunately, the burning wood filled the closed room with smoke and as a result of which all four of them died of suffocation.
