The Congress President has been attacking the Modi government over alleged corruption in the Rafale fighter jet deal.
On Friday, journalist and farm activist P Sainath said that the Modi-led NDA (National Democratic Alliance) government’s crop insurance schemes for farmers is a bigger scam than even the Rafale scam.
“The present government’s policies are anti-farmer. The Pradhanmantri Bima Fasal Yojana is a bigger racket than even the Rafale scam. Selected corporates like Reliance, Essar have been given the task of providing crop insurance,” alleged Sainath.
Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge on Monday accused the Centre of being stubborn and anti-farmer, hoping that the government would not do injustice to the farmers and implement its promises.
In a significant move to support farmers, the Haryana Government has issued a notification to procure 24 crops from farmers in the state at the Minimum Support Price (MSP).
In the run-up to the Delhi legislative assembly elections, farmers and the residents of all the city's 360 villages opened a front condemning the prolonged neglect of the rural population, and have decided that they will support only those who could resolve their crucial issues.
