Congress president Rahul Gandhi on Monday accused the Modi government of “looting farmers” in the name of its much-touted crop insurance scheme, the “Pradhanmantri Bima Fasal Yojana”.
Rahul Gandhi took to Twitter to accuse PM Modi of promoting crony capitalism.

“After looting the Air Force in Rafale, now the farmers are being looted in the name of crop insurance. The motive is one: fill thousands of crores of rupees in the accounts of suit-boot friends),” he tweeted in Hindi.

The Congress President has been attacking the Modi government over alleged corruption in the Rafale fighter jet deal.
On Friday, journalist and farm activist P Sainath said that the Modi-led NDA (National Democratic Alliance) government’s crop insurance schemes for farmers is a bigger scam than even the Rafale scam.
“The present government’s policies are anti-farmer. The Pradhanmantri Bima Fasal Yojana is a bigger racket than even the Rafale scam. Selected corporates like Reliance, Essar have been given the task of providing crop insurance,” alleged Sainath.
Chief Minister S Siddaramaiah on Tuesday urged the central government for immediate financial relief to the Karnataka’s Red Chilli farmers now caught in a debt crisis arising out of a double whammy – unsold inventories of last year and current crop yields, leading to a glut in the market and resultant plummeting prices.
The Congress government in Telangana has claimed to have conducted a caste census, and promised to bring a bill to enhance backward classes reservation to 42 per cent.
