Film actress Mita Vashist on Monday assumed charge as the chairperson of Haryana’s Film and Entertainment Council, which has been established to oversee the implementation of the state’s film and entertainment policy.

After assuming her new assignment, Vashist paid a courtesy visit to the Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar and expressed her sincere gratitude for the honour of being appointed as the chairperson of the Council.

Additional Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister and Director General, Information Public Relations and Languages Department Dr Amit Agrawal was also present on this occasion.

During the meeting, Vashisth assured the Chief Minister of her dedication and commitment to enhancing and promoting the film and entertainment sector in Haryana, promising to do everything in her capacity to contribute positively.

Speaking on the occasion, the CM said that Haryana has tremendous potential to become a thriving film production hub. The state offers excellent connectivity, a secure environment, scenic beauty, and significant historical importance, making it an ideal location for the film and entertainment industry to thrive.

The state government has appointed Vashist as the Chairperson of the Governing Council, tasked with overseeing the effective implementation of the Haryana Film and Entertainment Policy.

The position of Chairperson was lying vacant due to the demise of director, producer and actor Satish Kaushik, who was appointed as the first Chairman of the Governing Council by the state government.

“Mita Vashisht brings a wealth of experience to this prestigious role, having acted in approximately forty-three films, numerous television serials, web series, and theatre productions. Her expertise extends beyond the screen, as she has also served as visiting faculty at esteemed institutions such as the National School of Drama (NSD), National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), National Institute of Design (NID), Whistling Woods International (WWI), and held the position of Head of Department – Acting at the Film and Television Institute of India (FTII),” a statement issued by the government said.
