The RSS is keeping a close watch on the assembly elections in Karnataka slated for 12 May the results for which will be out on 15 May and wonders if a ‘chamatkar’ or miracle like the ruling Congress returning to power will indeed happen.

An editorial in the latest Hindi edition of Sangh mouthpiece Panchajanya dated 13 May without seeking to go into the outcome of the poll results asks if some ‘miracle’ will happen for the ruling Congress party in Karnataka assembly polls. With that the RSS mouthpiece also sought to implicitly conclude that the BJP’s victory march would continue in the southern state by virtue of the ‘hard work’ of its party leadership and cadres.

The editorial went on to add that whether his party leaders believe it or not Congress party president Rahul Gandhi thinks that such a ‘miracle’ was going to happen in Karnataka after the elections on the day of poll results.

“Rahul Gandhi without doing anything much within the party wants to inspire hope among his party men. He talks about going on a 15-day-long vacation after the polls. This is akin to someone in the middle of the board exam being focused more on planning his vacation at his grandma’s house than the exam itself,” the Panchajanya editorial sarcastically added.

The Sangh magazine underlined that the BJP’s booth level hard work had been paying it rich dividends since it came to power in New Delhi, helping it to be a ruling party in 20 states of the country. “Whatever may be the outcome of the Karnataka assembly elections, BJP’s ground level work and Rahul Gandhi’s political immaturity have been the talk of the town in the state,” according to the Sangh mouthpiece editorial.

Seeking to draw a parallel between the BJP’s ‘Himalayan victories’ and Congress party’s ‘mountain of failures’ in the previous elections, the Panchajanya editorial maintained that with every election the anti-BJP forces forget all the lessons from their past defeats and indulge in shrill political rhetoric propagating social division.

“The controversy over Lingayats in Karnataka is similar to an earlier political experiment (by the Opposition) to divide Hindus in Gujarat,” the editorial pointed out. It attributed the increasing clout of BJP in Karnataka and other southern states to the party and its leaders and supporters’ relentless hard work over a priod of time. The edit further pointed out that Congress party far from learning lessons from its mistakes is not even willing to acknowledge them.
