While trying to crack down on the protestors, Police officials took the assistance of local residents to identify the rioters. Gopi suspected that Ashish and his friends had given his name to the police.

Gopi had an altercation with Ashish and his friends over the issue in village Shobhapur on April 4 following which he was shot dead.

Ashish and his two friends were named in the case and sent to the jail.
