Mufti Yasir, a top operational commander of Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM), was among those killed on Tuesday in a joint operation in the upper reaches of Tral in South Kashmir. He was a trusted aide of JeM founder Masood Azhar who operates from Pakistan.
The body of the slain Pakistani commander of the terror outfit was identified on Thursday when J&K Director General of Police SP Vaid released Yasir’s photo.

Four terrorists of JeM were killed in an encounter on Tuesday.
In the photo, Mufti Yasir is seen with Masood Azhar and is carrying a sophisticated rifle. The Pakistani police are seen giving protection to them.
Killing of Mufti Yasir is being considered a major success for the security forces in Kashmir.

Two security personnel lost their lives the Tuesday encounter that took place in a forest area.
Security forces had launched an anti-militancy operation in Laam forest of Tral area in Pulwama district following information about presence of militants there. The encounter broke out between the militants and the security forces after the former fired upon the team from a nearby orchard.

In the fierce exchange of fire, Army Sepoy Ajay Kumar and police constable Lateed Gujri sustained injuries. They were taken to hospitals where they died later.
The Army paid tributes to Sepoy Ajay Kumar, 25, on Wednesday at Badami Bagh Cantt. Ajay Kumar, who had joined the Army in 2013, belonged to Himachal Pradesh.
