Maoists hanged two villagers, Mardavi Suja and Podiyam Kosa, in southern Chhattisgarh’s Bijapur district after labelling them as police informants. The victims were sentenced to death by a ‘Jan Adalat’ (People’s Court) convened by the Maoists, who claimed responsibility for the killings through their Bhairamgarh Area Committee.
The incident occurred after the Maoists abducted Suja, Kosa, and a student on September 3 from Jappemarka village. While the student was released with a warning, the two villagers were executed in the forest near Jappemarka village, where the Maoists held the Jan Adalat.

A note pinned on the victims’ shirts alleged that they had been acting as police informants for several years and warned others against collaborating with the police. The Maoists also threatened to drive the BJP out of the region and warned nearby villagers and the victims’ families not to inform the police about the incident.
The bodies of the deceased have been handed over to their families, and images of the executions were released by the Maoists on Thursday. This latest atrocity highlights the ongoing challenges in combating Maoist insurgency in the region.
Police sources in Bijapur revealed that although they have received information about the incident, no FIR has been registered yet. However, the police are taking all necessary measures to take proper action against the Maoists in the region. The authorities are working to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice and the region is secured against Maoist violence.
