Lok Sabha MP and AIMIM president Asaduddin Owaisi on Wednesday lashed out at the BJP government saying while it speaks about Mahatma Gandhi, the party has his assassin Nathuram Godse in mind.
The All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM) leader claimed that the ruling party consider Godse as their “hero”.

“We are celebrating the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi. The present BJP government has Nathuram Godse in its mind and Mahatma Gandhi in its words,” Owaisi claimed.
“The BJP is running its shop in the name of Gandhi. This government is bluffing the entire country with the name of Gandhiji,” the Hyderabad MP alleged.
Addressing a public rally in support of AIMIM candidates in Aurangabad ahead of the October 21 assembly elections in Maharashtra, Owaisi further asked “those who truly follow Gandhi to save the country”.
Continuing his tirade on BJP, the AIMIM chief said, “The present rulers admire Nathuram Godse as their hero. Godse killed Gandhi with three bullets but people are being killed here every day.”
On the 150th anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Wednesday launched a veiled attack on the ruling BJP saying that said those who consider themselves supreme and indulge in the politics of falsehood will not understand Mahatma Gandhi’s sacrifices and ideals.
Sonia Gandhi told party workers and leaders at Raj Ghat that the Mahatma’s soul would be “pained” by what has been happening in India in the last few years.
She said Mahatma Gandhi is the symbol of India “but those who want RSS to become India’s symbol will not understand what Gandhiji thought about multiculturalism.”
