Patel had lost in the state assembly polls in 2023. Former minister Omkar Singh Markam has been given the ticket from Mandla lok sabha seat.

Nakul Nath, son of Kamal Nath, is currently the only Lok Sabha member of the Congress from MP with the ruling BJP having 28 of the 29 seats of the state.
