France, Ukraine in months-old talks over minerals: French defence minister
Paris has been in talks with Kyiv since October about using Ukrainian minerals for France's defence industry, French Defence Minister Sebastien Lecornu said Thursday.

French President Emmanuel Macron will visit Varanasi in Uttar Pradesh on Monday with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He will inaugurate a 75 MW solar plant built by French firm Engie Solar in neighbouring Mirzapur.
The French President, who is on a four-day visit of the country, had on Sunday pledged an additional investment of 700 million euros to the objective of reducing the use of fossil fuel by switching to global solar energy generation by 2022.

Inaugurating the first International Solar Alliance (ISA) summit in New Delhi with PM Modi, Macron called for “joint duties” towards a “planet that we are sharing”.

“The French Development Agency will allocate additional 700 million euros to its commitment to solar energy by 2022,” Macron told the gathering comprising heads of 23 nations who are part of the alliance. The allocation takes France’s total commitment to the solar alliance to 1,000 million euros.
At Varanasi, the two leaders will visit the Deen Dayal Hastkala Sankul and interact with artisans before taking a short boat ride on the River Ganga from Assi Ghat to Dashashwamedh Ghat.
