65.79 pc voter turnout recorded in Lok Sabha election: EC
The Election Commission on Thursday said the overall voter turnout in the Lok Sabha elections was recorded at 65.79 per cent.
The fourth phase of Lok Sabha elections 2024 saw a voter turnout of 40.32 per cent till 1 pm on Monday, according to the data shared by the Election Commission of India.
At 51.87 per cent, West Bengal recorded the highest turnout of votes, followed by Madhya Pradesh at 48.52 per cent. Jharkhand, Telangana and Andhra Pradesh also registered above 40 per cent voter turnout in the first six hours of polling.
With just 23.57 per cent, Jammu and Kashmir recorded the lowest turnout of votes in its first parliamentary election since the abrogation of Article 370.

At 30.85 per cent, Maharashtra also witnessed a relatively low turnout of votes in the fourth phase of Lok Sabha elections 2024.

According to the Election Commission of India, a total of 1,717 candidates are in the fray for 96 parliamentary constituencies undergoing voting in the fourth phase.
The Lok Sabha elections 2024 are being held in seven phases from April 19 to June 1. Counting of votes will take place on June 4 and the results are also likely to be announced on the same day.
