For the first time, the Supreme Court on Tuesday provided live transcription of its hearings using Artificial Intelligence (AI) and technology powered by natural language processing.
The live transcription begin with a five-judge constitution bench commencing hearing on the issues arising in a batch of petitions relating to 2022 Shiv Sena feud which saw the fall of former Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray’s government and the installing of BJP backed current Chief Minister Eknath Shinde’s government.
Besides Chief Justice Chandrachud, other judges on the constitution bench include Justice M R Shah, Justice Krishna Murari, Justice Hima Kohli and Justice P S Narasimha.
The transcribed proceedings will be given to the arguing advocate before they are uploaded on the apex court website.
The exercise that started today is on experimental basis will last for a day or two to address any shortcoming before introducing it as a regular feature.
