Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed his party members at the BJP headquarters in New Delhi and congratulated them for astounding results in the northeast Assembly elections.

During his speech at the new BJP headquarters on Deen Dayal Upadhyay Marg, Prime Minister Modi said the Left party has received a befitting reply for spreading ‘bhay’ and ‘bhram’ among people in Tripura.

Attacking the Left for not accepting the defeat in Tripura, PM remarked that “to win or to lose in elections are a part of democracy. That is the beauty of democracy. One must accept their defeat with a sporting spirit”.

“The saffron wave has swept the north east. When a sun sets, its colour is also red,” the PM said, drawing a parallel to the end of the Left’s 25-year-rule in Tripura.

Assuring the citizens of Northeast that the Centre will be at their back, PM Modi said that the people of Northeast used to feel that New Delhi is too far away for them. “But we have created a situation with Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) ministry that brought Delhi to their doorstep. We sent more ministers to Northeast in the last 4 years than any other government since Independence,” PM Modi said.

PM Modi in a series of tweet said, “While we are naturally delighted about the historic victory in Tripura, we will always have in our thoughts and prayers the BJP Karyakartas who lost their lives due to mindless Communist violence. It is due to their courage that the party has reached where it has today”.

“BJP is fully committed to the overall transformation of the Northeast. This region is blessed with immense potential to become a powerhouse of development. The Central Government has already undertaken numerous efforts for better growth and opportunities in the Northeast”, said PM Modi in a tweet.
