Left parties call for a closer unity to defeat ’fascist’ forces

All the major Left parties on Thursday gave a clarion call for a sustained and all-out- resistance of the people on all fronts. “We need closer unity and cooperation among all the forces of the left and the broader opposition to defeat “fascism” and win the battle of democracy and we are sure that we will be able to move in this direction”.
Addressing the gathering at the inaugural session of the party Congress here on Thursday, general secretary Dipankar Bhattacharya categorically said: “Our efforts in 2023 will pave the way  for a decisive victory of democracy in 2024.
The inaugural session was held in the context of the upcoming 2024 genera election and the need for a concerted political ideological challenge to the BJP- RSS during the Loksabha polls and beyond.
Bhattacharya said:” all of us in the left parties have a central role to play in energising and sustaining this popular assertion and advancing the agenda of secular democratic federal India”.
Senior vice-president of CPN( UML) Nepal Ishwar Pokhrel said :” our party has received tremendous support from the people of Nepal and our victory is reflective of the protracted struggle fought by the party at every stage”.
Mohd Salim Polit Bureau member of the CPM speaking on this occasion said that the left alternative is the real alternative of the BJP Hindutva regime.
The secretary of the national council of CPI Pallab Sengupta said the CPI-ML party congress is of great significance since it is taking place at a key juncture of world history.
Prominent among those who spoke on this occasion were Arup Chatterjee acting president of Marxist Coordination Committee, Manoj Bhattacharya general secretary of the RSP,  G Devarajan secretary of the AIFB, Mangal Ram Padma , general secretary of RMPI.
Earlier after hoisting the communist party flag , left leaders paid tributes to the departed and martyred leaders. The venue of the party congress was held at Vinòd Mishra Nagar, named after the late party general secretary .
The stage of the SK Memorial hall is dedicated to the memory of the late party leaders – DP Bakshi, BB Pandey and NK Natarajan, these three central committee members died since the 10th party congress held at Mansa in Punjab in March 2018.
The six day congress will conclude on February 20. During the six day congress several draft documents including of the anti-fascist resolution, national and international scenario, climate change and party organisation will be discussed in a close door meeting. All these draft resolution would be adopted.
On February 18 all the major opposition party leaders including CM Nitish Kumar, Jharkhand CM Hemant Soren, deputy CM Tejshwi Prasad Yadav, senior congress leader Salman Khurshid, former Bihar CM Jitan Ram Manjhi will be participating in the party congress meeting with an aim to unite them on one platform to defeat the fascist forces in the country.
