Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab chief spokesperson Malvinder Singh Kang, on Friday, said even as the law and order situation in Punjab is completely under control Opposition parties are trying to malign the Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann-led government with their scurrilous claims.

Addressing a press conference on Friday, Kang said this was the first time in the electoral history of recent years in Punjab that no untoward incident occurred in the Sangrur by-election on Thursday. This is a testament that the law and order situation is completely intact, he added.

Slamming the previous Shiromani Akali Dal-Bharatiya Janata Party (SAD-BJP) and Congress governments, Kang said the municipal elections held in 2021 during the Congress government had witnessed several incidents of violence even shots were fired at SAD chief Sukhbir Singh Badal.

Giving the example of AAP leader and transport minister Laljit Singh Bhullar, Kang said that Bhullar was thrashed in the previous election during the Charanjit Singh Channi government. Meanwhile, similar incidents occurred during the tenure of former Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh, he said.

Kang said the Akali Dal and the Congress government pushed the youth of Punjab on the wrong path and promoted organised crime. The people of Punjab are suffering the consequences of the same today, he added.

Kang said AAP has a zero-tolerance policy against corruption and the Mann government would table a ‘white paper’ in the assembly to expose scams and loot during the previous governments, therefore, the people of Punjab would come to know about treachery committed by nefarious leaders in decades.

He said exemplary action will be initiated against all erring officers and leaders if found guilty after the probe
