India’s first travelling photobook festival, The Kitab, is all set for its next edition that will be held from 15-19 December in Rajasthan covering Jaipur, Ajmer, Pushkar and Bhateri village.
After successful editions on ‘Transgender Communities in India’ in July and ‘Women in Himalayas’ in September, this edition will focus on the work of German photographer Helena Schätzle. Through per powerful photography, Schätzle tells the story of a young girl, Manika, who was married at the age of 9 with Ambalal in the village of Delwara in Rajasthan.

He adds, “… photography can empower and inspire and be an important tool for social-change.”
This edition is dedicated to Bhanwari Devi, who has been working for the cause of eradicating child marriage since 1992 and has suffered brutal hardships in her mission.
The Kitab is a non-profit initiative started in early 2017 that travels to bring art to newer audiences.
The Rajasthan edition will showcase a curated exhibition of 40 photobooks from 30 countries.
