The Kerala Police has registered a case against Revolutionary Marxist Party (RMP) leader KS Hariharan over his derogatory statement against CPI-M leader and LDF Vatakara Lok Sabha candidate KK Shailaja and Malayalam film actress Manju Warrier, while commenting on the alleged morphed video of the LDF Vadakara candidate.

The police on Sunday registered the case based on a complaint filed by the All India Democratic Women’s Association (AIDWA), the women wing of the CPI-M.

He has been booked under IPC Sections 509 (insulting the modesty of a woman) and 153 (wantonly giving provocation with intent to cause riot). Responding to the development, Hariharan said that he would deal with the case legally.

Hariharan while addressing an event inaugurated by opposition leader VD Satheesan in Vatakara on Saturday asked whether someone made a porn video of Shailaja. It would be understandable if it were Manju Warrier’s porn video, he added.

He made the inappropriate comment while refuting the allegations that the UDF had spread the alleged morphed porn video of KK Shailaja, also called as Shailaja teacher.

“Will someone make a porn video of the teacher? It would be understandable if it were Manju Warrier’s porn video,” said Hariharan.

After the incident sparked outrage and criticism, Hariharan later issued an apology through his Facebook account.

Meanwhile, an unidentified gang on Sunday reportedly hurled country made bombs at RMP leader KS Hariharan’s house at Thenhippalam in Malappuram district.

“I could not identify the persons as it was night time. In the afternoon also, a gang which came by a car was seen roaming around the area,” Hariharan said on Monday.

RMP leaders alleged that the attack was spearheaded by the CPI-M . They also said that the police were trying to protect the assailants.

In this connection, Thenhipalam police booked three identifiable persons for throwing explosives at Hariharan’s house.

Opposition leader VD Satheesan has condemned the attack on Hariharan’s house.

Satheesan said the first accused in the attack on Hariharan’s house is CPI-M Kozhikode district secretary P Mohanan as he had stated that the issue would not be ended with Hariharan’s apology.
