Kerala Oppn intensifies protest against fuel cess, tax proposals
UDF MLAs begin indefinite 'satyagraha’ in front of the Assembly complex while the Youth Congress marches to Assembly.
Opposition members boycotted the Assembly proceedings and staged a walkout.
Sharpening his attack on Pinarayi Vijayan in the wake of allegation of irregularities in his daughter’s firm, Leader of the Opposition in the Kerala Assembly VD Satheesan demanded the resignation of the chief minister calling him unfit to hold the position.
Speaking to media persons after boycotting the proceedings of the Assembly on Friday, Satheesan alleged that Pinarayi Vijayan has committed corruption of a huge magnitude by abusing power. The chief minister does not have the right to continue in office, he should resign, Satheesan said.
Central agencies have found that a huge amount was paid to Exalogic Solutions, a firm owned by Veena Vijayan, daughter of the chief minister, to earn favours from the government.

Since the chief minister did not turn up at the Assembly today, Satheesan said he was absconding.
“Now that the Fraud Investigation Office (SFIO) has begun its investigation we moved a notice for adjournment motion but the chief minister escaped from the House. It was the ruling front that made a ruckus today in the assembly,” he said.
Earlier in the day, the Congress-led United Democratic Front boycotted the Assembly proceedings after Speaker A N Shamseer denied them permission to move an adjournment motion with a demand for discussion on the SFIO investigation against the chief minister’s daughter and her firm.
The Speaker rejected the notice for an adjournment motion moved by Congress MLA Mathew Kuzhalnadan citing Rule 53 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of business in the Kerala Legislative Assembly.
After the Speaker denied permission for the adjournment motion, Opposition members trooped into the well of the House raising placards and banners against the chief minister and waving it before the Speaker’s dais. One of the banners read: ‘Kerala is looted by PV and company’.
Later, the Opposition members boycotted the Assembly proceedings and staged a walkout.
Meanwhile, Union Minister Rajeev Chandrasekhar said the mystery surrounding Veena Vijayan’s firm should be unraveled. He sought clarification on whether her company was receiving undisclosed funds and fees from other unidentified businessmen.
