The LDF government in Kerala has directed the district police chiefs to withdraw more cases registered in the state in connection with the protests against the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA).
In the order issued by the Home Secretary, it has also been directed to ensure the applications related to the cases ordered to be withdrawn earlier have reached the court.
It has also been directed to withdraw the cases, which are registered under bailable charges in connection with the CAA protest.

After the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) was passed by the Parliament, the Chief Minister and the state government are of the position that it will not be implemented in the state.
There were criticisms from the Opposition that the Chief Minister and the LDF government are not sincere to their opposition to CAA, which become the main campaign issue in the state.
A total of 835 cases have been registered in connection with anti-CAA protests in the state. Out of these, proceedings to withdraw less than 100 cases were earlier initiated by the state government, it is learnt.
