Only 16% consumers aware of DPDP Act, 56% not aware of their rights: Survey
A survey has revealed 56% of consumers are not aware of their rights related to personal data and 69% of consumers are not aware of their rights to take back their consent.
The government today reviewed the progress of the Open Market Sale Scheme (OMSS), particularly the progress in the supply of Atta (wheat flour) at Rs 29.50/kg through various outlets in the country for sale to consumers with a view to checking inflationary trends in the food economy.
Sanjeev Chopra, Secretary in the Department of Food and Public Distribution, in a meeting with the Food Corporation of India (FCI), Kendriya Bhandar, National Agricultural Cooperative Marketing Federation of India (NAFED) and the National Cooperative Consumers’ Federation of India Limited (NCCF), decided that these institutions will lift wheat up to 3 LMT from FCI Depots and after converting it into Atta they will sell it to consumers at Rs 29.50/Kg through various retail outlets, and mobile vans.
These institutions agreed to supply Atta at Rs 29.50/Kg named as “Bharat Atta” or “any other suitable name” with bold mention of the MRP. The Kendriya Bhandar has already started the sale of Atta at Rs 29.50/Kg from today itself. However, the NCCF and the NAFED will supply Atta at Rs 29.50/Kg from 6 February onward.

It was also decided that any corporations/cooperatives/federations/self-Help groups of state governments may also get allocated wheat at Rs 23.50 /Kg from the Government of India for sale of Atta to consumers at Rs 29.50/Kg.
The Committee of Ministers under the chairmanship of Home Minister Amit Shah reviewed the prices of essential commodities on 25 January and decided to release 30 LMT wheat from FCI stock through OMSS.
