Six terrorists were killed in an encounter with security forces at Shalagul (Bijbehara) in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Friday. The Bijbehara encounter started in the early hours of Friday when an Army team was conducting a cordon and search operation.
Army spokesperson Colonel Rajesh Kalia said weapons and warlike stores had been recovered from the encounter spot. The operation was still on at the time of writing.
Reports said four terrorists were initially killed and others remained trapped in gunfight for some time, before they were eliminated too.

The pre-dawn gunfight broke out between terrorists and security forces in Shalagul Sekipora area when a joint team of Army’s 3RR, CRPF and SOG launched a cordon and search operation in Sekipora.
As soon as the security forces intensified searches towards the suspected spot, the terrorists hiding there fired upon them, triggering an encounter.
The terrorists had on Thursday evening attacked the police station and SOG camp in Shopian with grenades.
According to reports, all the slain militants were locals and belonged to the Hizbul Mujahideen terror outfit.
Authorities have suspended mobile Internet services in Anantnag district as a precautionary measure.
