National Jute Board (NJB) organised a students’ outreach programme (SOP), an Awareness initiative, at National Institute of Fashion Technology (NIFT), Kolkata on Wednesday among the fashion students.
To safeguard from plastic pollution, the world is looking for a suitable eco-friendly alternative product for living an environment friendly lifestyle and jute, the golden fibre plays a major role as an alternative for polythene products, in many forms.
T Ayyappan, head-marketing, National Jute Board (NJB) presided the SOP initiative and made a powerpoint presentation on the diverse range of jute diversified products and the business opportunities in the sector for the fashion students and also hinted the success stories in Jute industry during the presentation.
The various schemes under the National Jute Development Programme (NJDP) implemented by NJB were also briefed during the presentation.
The perils of plastic products were also pointed out by Mr Ayyappan during the presentation. Students got captivated by seeing the huge collection of jute diversified products, presented during the SOP.
