Justice Rajendra Menon appointed Chief Justice of Delhi High Court

Justice Rajendra Menon, the Chief Justice of Patna High Court, has been transferred to the Delhi High Court in same capacity. According to a Law Ministry notification issued on Saturday, Menon will be take charge on August 17.

Delhi High Court’s Acting Chief Justice Geeta Mittal has been appointed the Chief Justice of Jammu and Kashmir High Court. She becomes the first woman judge to head that court.

The transfer of Justice Rajendra Menon comes on the recommendation of the collegium, which superseded its January 10 recommendation to appoint Justice Aniruddha Bose as the Chief Justice of Delhi High Court. The Centre had returned the recommendation to appoint Justice Bose, senior puisne Judge of Calcutta High Court, for reconsideration by the collegium.

Justice Bose has been elevated as the Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court.

In a series of other appointments, according to the Law Ministry notifications, Rajasthan High Court judge Justice KS Jhaveri has been elevated as the Chief Justice of Orissa High Court. He will replace Justice Vineet Saran, who has been elevated to the Supreme Court.

Justice VK Tahilramani, the senior most judge at Mumbai High Court, has been elevated as the Chief Justice of Madras High Court. He will replace Justice Indira Banerjee, who has also been elevated to the top court.

The senior-most Judge of Gujarat High Court, Justice MR Shah, will be the Chief Justice of Patna High Court, while Justice Hrishikesh Roy, the Acting Chief Justice of Kerala High Court, has been elevated as its permanent Chief Justice.
