Union Minister of State for Home G Kishan Reddy today said there were inputs of Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh using some madrasas in Burdwan and Murshidabad in West Bengal for radicalisation and recruitment activities.

“Relevant inputs in this regard are regularly shared with the state government and agencies concerned with the advice to take appropriate action. The government has notified Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh or Jamaat-ulMujahideen India or Jamaatul-Mujahideen Hindustan and all its manifestations as a terrorist organisation on 23 May in terms of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967,” he said.

The parliament triggered immediate reaction from the Trinamul Congress-government. The BJP has been accusing the ruling Trinamul since the Khagragarh blast in October, 2014 of going soft on terror modules. An explosion had occurred in a house in the Khagragarh locality of Burdwan in which two suspected Indian Mujahideen terrorists were killed and a third injured. The police seized 55 improvised explosive devices, RDX, wrist watch dials and SIM cards. The two-storeyed building was owned by Nurul Hasan Chowdhury, a Trinamul leader. The ground floor of the building was used as Trinamul party office. During the 2008 and 2013 Panchayat elections, it was used as the election office by the Trinamul.

State minister and Trinamul secretary general Partha Chatterjee first tried to dismiss the Union minister’s statement and then said the state government and chief minister Mamata Banerjee would act on the report sent by the Centre. “We are against arbitrary action against anyone and at the same time we are for stern action against perpetrators of crime,” he said. Mr Reddy also expressed concern to the West Bengal government over the recent political violence in the state. He said information was received about a number of incidents of violence before, during and after the general election, resulting in deaths and injuries to several people, including political workers in West Bengal.

“Concern on the issue was shared by the government with the state government and an advisory was issued on June 9 asking the state government to maintain law and order, peace and public tranquillity in the state,” he said replying a written question. PTI adds: Four out of the five terrorists involved in the Pulwama terror attack were killed, while one was arrested, Union MoS for Home G Kishan Reddy said. He said in LS that NIA probe has revealed the links of terrorist module of the Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), which was responsible.
