Amid rumours of Nitish Kumar returning to NDA fold, Senior JD(U) leader KC Tyagi on Thursday said that the Opposition’s INDIA alliance remains fine and that his party is a part of it.

“INDIA gathbandhan (alliance) salamat hai… Everything is fine in the alliance. JDU remains it’s part..,” Tyagi told reporters.

When asked about the comments of Lalu Yadav’s daughter Rohini Acharya in response to Kumar’s dynastic politics jibe, the JDU leader said that he doesn’t comment on remarks of children.

“Baccho ke comments par hum comment nahi karte. Nitish Kumar’s comment was neither on Lalu Yadav nor Sonia Gandhi, he was appreciating Karpoori Thakur…,” he said.

While Tyagi refused JDU’s plans to exit INDIA alliance, his answer to the question about joining NDA hinted all is not well within the grand alliance partners.

“Abhi esa kuchh nahi hai, (there is nothing like that as of now),” the JDU leader said when asked if they will join NDA.

The fact that he didn’t refuse outrightly hints at a strategic shift in JDU’s approach towards the BJP-led NDA.

According to sources, Nitish Kumar has called a meeting of party MLAs in Patna to discuss his future plans. Sources said that the Bihar CM is likely to tender his resignation and then stake claim to form government with the help of the BJP.

Once a new NDA government is formed, he might announce the dissolution of the Bihar assembly and seek fresh elections simultaneously with the Lok Sabha polls later this year.

A parallel meeting of BJP functionaries is also being held in Delhi. BJP’s Bihar in-charge Vinod Tawde has also reached Delhi where he is likely to hold a meeting with Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
