Manipur: Security forces launch search operation after fierce militant attack on Jiribam Police Station
The attack unfolded around 3 pm on Sunday, with heavily armed militants firing on both the CRPF post at Jakuradhor and the police station.
The bodies were recovered on Sunday and one of them turned out to be a civilian. He was identified as Shahid Ahmad Mir.
One of the two persons killed in Saturday’s gunfight in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian district was a civilian, police said on Sunday.
Police had earlier said that two militants were slain in fighting between rebels and security forces in Khudpora village.
According to the police, the bodies were recovered on Sunday and one of them turned out to be a civilian.

He was identified as Shahid Ahmad Mir.
Police sources said the civilian’s body was handed over to the family.
The other person killed in the gunfight was a Kashmiri militant identified as Muhammad Irfan Bhat.
Police said a couple of militants managed to escape during the encounter.
On Saturday, security personnel had launched a cordon and search operation in the Khudpora area of Shopian following information about the presence of militants there.
He said the search operation turned into an encounter as militants opened fire upon the personnel who then retaliated.
“As the cordon around the hiding militants was tightened, they fired at the surrounding security forces triggering an encounter in which two militants were killed,” said a senior police official.
The official added that incriminating materials, including arms and ammunition, were recovered from the scene of the encounter.
