Security forces started a massive search operation in more than 20 villages of Jammu and Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Monday, police said.
The operation began following reports about the presence of militants in these villages, said the police.
“So far, there has been no reports of any exchange of fire in any of the villages included in the search,” said an officer.
These villages include Putrigam, Rohmu, Rajpora, Matrigam, Goosu and Frasipora, among others.
This is not the first time such an operation has been undertaken by the security forces in South Kashmir.
Known as area domination operations, these are usually undertaken to keep the militants on the run and prevent them from establishing a foothold in the region.
