A gunfight started on Thursday between holed-up militants and security forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Baramulla district, police said.
The security forces surrounded the Athoora village in Kreeri area in the early hours of Thursday after receiving information about the presence of militants. The number of militants present at the site couldn’t be however confirmed at the time of writing.

“As the security forces closed in on the hiding militants they fired at them triggering an encounter,” a police officer said told IANS.

Security forces are yet to divulge details regarding the holed-up militants.
Two militants were gunned down on Wednesday in Nowgam area of Anantnag district in the Valley.
