Truck driver shot dead after he jumps Army’s check post in Kashmir
A truck driver was shot dead by an Army search team after he allegedly defied a signal to stop at a check post and sped his vehicle away in North Kashmir's Baramulla district.
Mobile Internet services have been suspended in Sopore and adjoining areas, and restrictions imposed in the town to maintain law and order.

A gunfight broke out between militants and security forces on Friday morning in Sopore township of Baramulla district in Jammu and Kashmir, police said.
Acting on a specific input about the militants, said the police, the security forces started a search operation in Warpora village.

“As the cordon around the hiding militants was tightened, they fired at the security forces triggering the ongoing encounter,” said a senior officer.

The exchange of fire was on at the time of writing, and further details are awaited.
