A Delhi court on Saturday sent former media baron Peter Mukerjea to judicial custody till April 13 in the INX media case, officials said.

A Delhi court on Saturday sent former media baron Peter Mukerjea to judicial custody till April 13 in the INX media case, officials said.
Mukerjea, who is undergoing trial in the Sheena Bora murder case, was produced before the Patiala House court.

Paying heed to CBI’s request, the court had on March 26 permitted the investigative agency to grill Mukerjea till March 31.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had visited Mumbai’s Arthur Road jail on March 25 to take Mukerjea into custody.
Karti Chidambaram, former Union finance minister P Chidambaram’s son, was also arrested in the case. But Delhi High Court granted bail to Karti on a surety of Rs 10 lakh.
Indrani Mukerjea, Peter’s wife and the prime accused in the Sheena Bora murder case too has been arrested in the case.
The INX Media case, registered by the CBI, relates to a Foreign Investment Promotion Board (FIPB) approval granted to INX Media, founded by the Mukerjeas, for receiving foreign funds in 2007.
The Enforcement Directorate has also registered a case against INX Media, the Mukerjeas and others under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA).
INX Media is accused of violating the FIPB guidelines while receiving investments from Mauritius.
