The Indian Navy’s highly anticipated and largest sailing event, the Indian Navy Sailing Championship (INSC), is scheduled to be held at the Indian Naval Academy (INA) in Ezhimala from October 16 to October 19, 2024.

The championship will take place at the Marakkar Watermanship Training Centre (MWTC), recognized as one of India’s premier sailing facilities. Over 100 participants from the Indian Navy will compete, showcasing their sailing skills in five different classes of boats in three different formats of racing.

The INSC is an annual inter-command competition organized under the Indian Naval Sailing Association (INSA), based at Naval Headquarters. The event is designed to promote competitive sailing among naval personnel. This year’s championship will feature teams from the Navy’s three commands, comprising officers, cadets, and sailors, including Agniveers.

Participants will compete in four popular formats of sailing: Fleet Racing in the ILCA-6 class boat for women, ILCA-7 class boat for men, and Bic Beach class boat for windsurfing. The Team Racing event will be held in the Enterprise class boat.

The Indian Navy places significant emphasis on watermanship activities, viewing sailing as an important means to develop seamanship skills, foster camaraderie, and build courage and leadership qualities among naval personnel.
