INS Tushil, the Indian Navy’s newest guided missile stealth frigate, has successfully completed its inaugural port visit to Dakar, Senegal, strengthening bilateral ties between the two countries. During the three-day visit, Captain Peter Varghese held discussions with Rear Admiral Abdou Sene, Chief of Staff of the Senegalese Navy, to explore ways to enhance naval cooperation and joint maritime security initiatives.
The visit featured an exchange of subject matter expertise, which included showcasing the Indian Navy’s NISHAR – MITRA terminal, and a joint Yoga session with the Yoga Association of Senegal, further fostering camaraderie between the two nations’ naval personnel. Additionally, around 150 members of the Indian diaspora and the local community were welcomed aboard, reflecting the growing presence of the Indian Navy in the region.

Before concluding the visit, INS Tushil engaged in a Passage Exercise (PASSEX) with the Senegalese naval vessel, PHM Niani. This visit underscores the importance of cooperative efforts to ensure regional security and marks a significant step towards enhancing interoperability between the Indian and Senegalese navies.
