Initiative for innovators

It was a gala meeting of young scientists, innovators and makers of all kinds of new things who had come from different parts of the country to  celebrate and display their work in the two day ‘Meerut Makers Fest’ . This first such initiative drew wide appreciation from the people.

The objective of the fest was to provide young innovators and makers a potential platform where they could exhibit their creativity. Besides it was also an opportunity to the  young minds to get new ideas and a boost from the outstanding innovations displayed.

Organised by  Meerut Industrial Development Forum ( MIDFO), Meerut Makers Space and R C Foundation of USA, the event turned out to be a mega success and the organisers are hopeful to continue it in future.

MIDFO’s vice president Girish Kumar said the objective of the Fest was to prepare a platform for young innovators to show their work to the people and at the same time to those who want to innovate so that they could learn and get encouragement from them.

More than 60 makers and innovators from different parts of  the country had come to exhibit their innovations in the fest. Human robot, 3 dimensional printer, drone, battery operated cycle and many more interesting innovations were a part of this fest which attracted several curious visitors.

A large number of guests including school children and college students visited the fest, curious about the technology behind these innovations.

Changemakers, a group led by German Ulrike Reinhard, which is working with rural children had also come to participate in the fest. “It indeed it a great initiative,* she said.

The initiative received a good response from the people and visitors, claimed Ashish Varshney, general secretary of MIDFO and one of the leading lights behind the show. “We are happy and enthused,” he added.

The fest was inaugurated  by S P Singh ,  general manager of SIDBI . He and Mukesh Nigam , general manager of SBI, assured innovators and makers their support in helping to further excel in their respective fields of innovation. “You come up with the new ideas and we would try to help,” assured Singh.

Shaswat Ratan of Meerut Makers Space and Manish Agarwal of R C Foundation briefed the gathering about the activities and contribution of their organisations in creating a conducive atmosphere for innovators and makers so that they could also contribute to the country’s growth and development in future.
