India-backed CPI (M) on Friday fielded comrade Amra Ram from the Sikar Lok Sabha constituency in Rajasthan as the party’s candidate. The Congress has left the seat for the Left party after forging an alliance with it.
The decision was taken in a meeting of the state committee of the Communist Party of India (Marxist) held at Mazdoor Kisan Bhawan here in the presence of party’s Rajasthan in-charge politburo member Com. Brinda Karat co-in-charge as observers on behalf of the central committee.
Amraram will contest election against BJP’s sitting MP Sumedhnand Sarswati. He had lost the last assembly polls to Danta Ramgarh while Congress candidate Virendra Singh won by a huge margin.
The state committee of CPI (M) called upon the people of Rajasthan to defeat the blatantly anti-farmer, anti-labour and anti-common people Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) from all the seats in the state.
Addressing the meeting, Com. Brinda Karat said in the last ten years, the BJP-RSS Modi Government at the Center worked only to benefit domestic and foreign corporations and is pushing the country into the jungle of communalism.
The first phase of LS polls-2024 on 12 seats will be held on April 19, and its nomination process is underway. The second phase of LS polls on remaining 13 seats will be held on April 26.
