Industrial Model Township (IMT) Manesar in Gurugram is set to become a full-fledged testing centre for automotive industry soon.
Already having two International Centres for Automotive Technology (ICAT) with an investment of Rs 1,100 crore by Union Ministry for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, only test track facility remains to be set up at IMT Manesar for becoming the full-fledged testing centre. Every type of testing facility for the automotive industry will be available in IMT Manesar.
Four test facilities in the ICAT Centre-II were inaugurated by Union Minister for Heavy Industries and Public Enterprises, Anant G Geete, on Wednesday. He said a total of 16 different world-class testing facilities were being provided in both these centres.
He said that these Centres are rendering valuable services to the automotive industry in the country in a major
way.
Geete said ten different testing facilities were being provided in ICAT Centre-I which is spread over eight acres of land and six facilities will be provided at ICAT Centre-II which is spread over 46.6 acres of land.
The ICAT Centre-I in IMT Manesar was also inaugurated by Geete in February 2016. The four new facilities inaugurated by the minister at ICAT Manesar include Noise Vibration and Harshness (NVH) Lab, Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Lab, Passive Safety Lab (PSL) popularly known as Crash Test and Tyre Test Lab (TTL).
Geete said that the Prime Minister, Narendra Modi gave a slogan of ‘Make in India’ and the automotive industry is working on making it a success. All automobile manufacturers are manufacturing various types of vehicles in India. Haryana has become an auto hub, Pune in Maharastra and Chennai in Tamilnadu are another auto hubs in the country.
He said that all types of state-of-the-art world-class testing facilities will be available in IMT Manesar whereas earlier, one had to rush abroad even for small testings.
