Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and several other leaders across the party life expressed their joy over the evacuation of 41 construction workers who were trapped inside the collapsed Silkyara tunnel in Uttarakhand’s Uttarkashi for the last 17 days.

Reacting to their safe evacuation, Prime Minister Modi said that the successful rescue of our labour brothers has made everyone emotional and saluted the spirit of trapped workers and those involved in their rescue.

“The success of the rescue operation of our labor brothers in Uttarkashi is making everyone emotional.

I want to say to the friends who were trapped in the tunnel that your courage and patience is inspiring everyone. I wish you all well and good health.

It is a matter of great satisfaction that after a long wait these friends of ours will now meet their loved ones. The patience and courage that all these families have shown in this challenging time cannot be appreciated enough.

I also salute the spirit of all the people associated with this rescue operation. Their bravery and determination have given new life to our labor brothers. Everyone involved in this mission has set an amazing example of humanity and teamwork,” the PM said in a long post on X.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah said that it was a great news and saluted their grit “for facing such a challenge for so long.”

Rajnath Singh said that he was extremely happy to see all the trapped workers being evacuated safely and lauded the efforts of all the people involved in the rescue mission.

Congress leader Rahul Gandhi said that the safe return of labourers is a happy news and that the safety of labour brothers is of paramount importance. The Congress leader also lauded the efforts of rescue teams.

“The safe return of the labor brothers trapped in the Silkyara tunnel of Uttarkashi is a very happy news. My heartiest congratulations to them and their families. The safety of our labor brothers who are building India is of paramount importance. I salute all the brave men who made this difficult campaign successful,” he said.
