Launching a frontal attack on Congress President Rahul Gandhi, Union Minister Anant Kumar Hegde has questioned his Brahmin antecedents and religious affiliations as he said that Rahul Gandhi is the son of a Muslim father and a Christian mother.
Hegde was referring to the Balakot air strikes when he made these comments.

He said, ”Congress is escalating air strike politics. Rahul Gandhi is the son of Muslim father and Christian mother and he still claims to be a Brahmin.”
“The entire world is talking about our might and valour. They want proof of our IAF’s air strikes against Pakistan. But how did the son of a Muslim become a Brahmin named Gandhi?” he said, adding that Gandhi should undergo a DNA test to ascertain that he is a Brahmin.
Earlier this year, Hegde had termed Gandhi as a “hybrid specimen” born to a Muslim and a Christian.
Hegde, who is infamously known for making hate speeches and comments, had sparked controversy in January when he said that the hands which “touch” Hindu girls, should be “chopped off” and “cease to exist.”
Addressing a public event in Karnakata’s Kodagu, Hegde said, “There should be a fundamental shift in our thinking. We should keenly observe what’s happening around us. Regardless of caste and religion, a hand that touches a Hindu girl should not exist. History is written like that.”
In October 2017, Hegde had asked the Karnataka government to keep him out of the state’s Tipu Jayanti celebrations, calling the erstwhile Mysore ruler Tipu Sultan a “brutal killer, wretched fanatic and mass rapist”.
