Barely hours after a school bus was attacked by stone-pelters, the house of a ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) MLA Mohammad Yusuf Bhat in Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian district was attacked on Wednesday with a petrol bomb.
Police said unknown persons hurled the bomb at the house of Muhammad Yusuf in Memander village. Only four staff members of the MLA were in the house at the time of attack. No report of casualty was received.

Bhat and other members of his family were away at Srinagar when the attack came at his residence in the Memander locality of Shopian. The upper storey of the house caught fire when the petrol bomb landed there.
“A portion of the house caught fire but it was immediately doused,” a police officer said.
Former J-K Chief Minister Omar Abdullah took to Twitter saying , “School children attacked, tourists attacked, MLA’s home petrol bombed. Sadly Kashmir is just a steady series of bad news most of the time these days”.
Earlier in the day, two students were injured as a school bus was attacked in Zavoora area of South Kashmir’s Shopian district by stone-pelters.
According to media reports, the bus, which came under attack of the miscreants, belonged to Rainbow International School.
Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Shopian, Shalender Kumar Mishra, while talking to media said that the school bus was attacked by miscreants with stones near Zavoora village.
The police have taken cognisance of the incident and investigation is being conducted.
One of the students, who sustained injuries, is critical and has been referred to Srinagar hospital for specialised treatment.
