Adding a dramatic twist to the health of Goa Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar, who has been battling cancer for several months, state’s Power Minister Nilesh Cabral on Sunday said he hoped that a miracle occurs, referring to the condition of the former Defence Minister.
“We only hope that he recovers fast, a miracle happens and that he leads us in the future. That is all we ask (for),” Cabral told reporters at Panaji soon after Parrikar returned from New Delhi where he was undergoing treatment for advanced pancreatic cancer at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) where he was admitted last month.

“Parrikar’s health condition deteriorated in the early morning on Sunday and he was shifted to intensive care unit (ICU),” an AIIMS official said.
“Later he was released from the ICU and also discharged from the hospital,” the official added.
Parrikar arrived in Goa by a special flight and headed straight to his private residence, near Panaji, where a government-operated ambulance and a medical crew were kept on a standby.
