Amid rising incidents of terror strikes in Kashmir, Union Home Secretary Rajiv Gauba reached Srinagar Monday and held a high-level review of the situation with top officers of the Army, security forces, intelligence agencies and the state police.
His visit to the Valley also comes with the onset of summers when the tourist season begins in Kashmir. The Amarnath Yatra is also scheduled to begin in June. Three successive tourist seasons have failed due to unrest and 11 Amarnath pilgrims were killed in a terrorist strike last year.
