“I have spoken to the observers that were sent by the party high command. The organisation is more important than one individual. Keeping the organisation strong is every individual’s responsibility. In the larger interest of the party and the unity of the party, I will not press my resignation that was rejected by the chief minister earlier today,” he said.

When asked if the crisis in the Himachal government is over, he said, “There was no crisis to begin with. It was a creation. A solution can be found to everything if people work together and take a positive approach. We are here to serve the people of the state and governing is the way to do that. Strengthening the government and serving the people by doing so is everyone’s responsibility.

Earlier today, calling him a younger brother, chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has said that he will not accept his resignation and that he grievances will be heard.

Singh’s resignation was seen as a huge blow to the Congress party and came at a time when it was dealing with a revolt by six MLAs which resulted in a humiliating defeat in Rajya Sabha election.

The Congress has rushed it’s all-weather troubleshooter and Karnataka deputy CM DK Shivakumar and senior leader Bhupinder Singh Hooda to Himachal Pradesh to manage the crisis.

Meanwhile, the the Himachal government has passed the state Budget after 15 BJP MLAs were suspended from the House. The BJP has termed the suspension as a plot to pass the Budget and save the government.
