‘Could not find a small land for father’s statue…’: Himachal MLA Vikramaditya Singh breaks down
Singh said that the Congress government in Himachal Pradesh was formed using his father's name.
Singh’s resignation came hours after the ruling Congress suffered humiliating defeat in the Rajya Sabha elections despite having majority.
Former chief minister Virbhadra Singh’s son and Himachal Pradesh PWD minister Vikramaditya Singh on Wednesday tendered his resignation from the state Cabinet amid deepening political crisis.
Earlier on Tuesday, six Congress MLAs rebelled against the Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu-led state government and cross voted in favour of BJP candidate for Rajya Sabha elections, resulting in an embarrassing defeat for the ruling party.
Following the Rajya Sabha set back, Leader of Opposition Jairam Thakur claimed that Sukhu government has lost the majority and demanded his resignation from the post of chief minister.

Addressing a press conference, Vikramaditya Singh said that he has already briefed the party high command regarding the actual situation in the state and said that the ball is now in the court of Congress leadership.
“I have clearly said that I have briefed the party high command regarding the actual situation. Now the ball is in the court of the party high command, they have to decide what the future course of action will be. But I have been very clear and very categorical in what I had to say. It has been said in very clear terms…Whatever has to happen in the time to come will be done with the party high command in due discussions and deliberations. I am sure that whatever decision will be taken, it will be taken in the larger interest of the organisation, of the party, and the people of this state…” Thakur said.
When asked if he will continue to be in the Congress party, Singh said, “I am there where I am. In the times to come, I will hold due discussions and deliberations with my people, supporters, and well-wishers. After due discussions, we will take the future course of action.”
Earlier today, BJP leader and LoP Jairam Thakur, along with a delegation of party leaders, met Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla and apprised the Governor of incidents taken place recently in the Assembly.
“We have informed the Governor about what happened in the Assembly recently…We informed him about the behaviour of the Speaker towards the Opposition MLAs. In the Assembly, when we demanded division of vote during the financial bill, it was not allowed and the House was adjourned twice. After that, the way Marshal behaved with our MLAs was not right. MLAs were attacked by the Marshals. MLAs were injured, this has never happened in the Himachal Pradesh Assembly.”
