GST collection in Himachal Pradesh records 19% increase in April
The GST collection in the state was Rs 593 crore against Rs 500 crore collected during the same month last year.

The Goods and Service Tax (GST) collection in Himachal Pradesh registered an increase of 25 per cent in the month of February, amounting to collection of Rs. 377 crore.
Disclosing the increase here on Wednesday, Himachal Pradesh State Taxes and Excise Commissioner Yunus said that the GST collection in the current financial year has increased by 21 per cent, as the department collected revenue of Rs. 4,933 crore till February, 2023.

The handsome growth in GST collection during the current financial year is the result of strengthened enforcement alongside improved taxpayer compliances, he added.

“The sustained training effort of the department has helped in capacity building of the tax officers in a big way making enforcement activities more effective. It has trained around 450 tax officers recently,” he said.
Yunus said that the department has verified 12 lakh e-way bills in the current financial year and a sum of Rs 8.18 crore was collected for violation of e-way bills during road checks conducted by the department.
Besides, the department is also committed to improve voluntary compliance with time-bound redressal of the issues of the stakeholders, he added.
Continuous improvement in return filing, speedy scrutiny of returns, timely completion of GST audits and strengthened enforcement continue to be the focus areas for the department, he stated.
The department is set to surpass the revenue target of Rs. 5130 crore fixed by the government for the current ending financial year, said Yunus.
