Under a special drive against narcotics smugglers, the Haryana Police has seized 749 kilograms and 800 grams of ganja patti (cannabis) worth Rs 2 crore from a truck in Palwal district. The police have also arrested three people for supplying the contraband.

Sharing this information on Friday, a Haryana Police spokesperson said the contraband was being illegally transported in a truck from Odisha hidden in between the bags of cottonseed.

A police team, after getting secret input about the smuggling of narcotics in a truck bearing a Rajasthan registration number, intercepted the vehicle at a naka on National Highway 9. The search of the vehicle led to the recovery of 24 plastic bags containing the contraband weighing 749 kg and 800 grams. The ganja patti was found hidden in between bags of cottonseed.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the seized contraband was sourced from Vijaynagar, Odisha. The arrested accused are identified as Rafeeq and Saddam and Firoz Alam.
