The police have recovered country-made pistols from the possession of the suspects. Of the five suspects, four are residents of district Kaithal and one hails from district Aligarh in Uttar Pradesh.

A woman doctor, Vanita Arora, was murdered at her house on the first floor of her clinic in Sector 13, Kurukshetra, on Monday night. The accused had fled after committing loot in the house.

The Superintendent of Police Kurukshetra, Surinder Singh Bhoria, had constituted a Special Investigation Team to crack the case. Working on the intelligence and other inputs, the police have arrested the accused after a brief exchange of fire.

In the CCTV footage, armed men were seen reaching the house in a Maruti Swift car and heading for the first-floor residence of the doctor around 10 pm on Monday.

Dr. Vanita used to prepare cakes on order and was baking one when the accused with faces covered by mufflers entered the house on the pretext of buying a cake.

Within seconds, they locked other family members, including her husband Dr. Atul Arora, and the domestic help, Madhu, in a room and demanded keys of the lockers. When Dr. Vanita resisted, they hit her on the head and she died on the spot, the police said.
