Haryana: 98 pc farmers get crop payments worth Rs 11,819 cr through DBT

Haryana Deputy Chief Minister Dushyant Chautala on Tuesday said for the first time in the history of Haryana, 98 per cent farmers have received their paddy purchase payment directly in their bank accounts through DBT (direct benefit transfer) within 48 hours.

Addressing a press conference at Haryana Niwas today, Chautala – who also holds the portfolio of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs Department – said that 98.7 per cent lifting of paddy procured from the mandis has also been done so far.

While appreciating this year’s paddy-procurement system, he said that although the given target of paddy procurement in the current procurement season was 57 lakh metric tonnes but thanks to the strenuous efforts of the state government, 58.59 lakh metric tonnes have been procured till 14 November.

He said till now 98 per cent farmers have received the crop payment directly in their bank account, which is about Rs 11,819 crore.

Giving information about the millers, he said that this time 1456 millers have been registered on ‘HUM Portal’ and only after physical verification by the MSMEs, the equal paddy distribution is being ensured among them to eliminate the scope of Ghost Billing in any scenario.

Chautala said that strict cognisance will be taken in the matter of wheat spoilage in Kaithal, Kurukshetra and Karnal. In this case, a committee has been constituted under the chairmanship of administrative secretaries, if anyone is found guilty, strict action will be taken against the accused. The spoiled wheat will also be auctioned.
